I enjoyed this look back. My mom told the story of my first fireworks which was a very similar experience. When the first rocket went off, I said "Me gonna get out of here!" and took off running through the crowd of blankets and people. Like your son I was eventually blowing things up myself and enjoying fireworks ever since.
